This wine was produced from fruit grown on the Waimea Plains which underwent partial destemming followed by soaking overnight on the skins to enhance the textures of the wine. The juice was gently pressed under inert gas conditions, fermented with traditional yeast sourced from Alsace and aged on lees in stainless steel tanks.
Classic, mouth-watering aromas of lychee with hints of exotic spices and rose petals. Odd dry in style, with a balance of acidity and phenolics that linger on the palate. Drink now or cellar to 2024.
4 1/2 stars Michael Cooper: The 2016 vintage is already delicious. Light lemon/green, it is perfumed, weighty, and finely textured, in a slightly sweet style (12 grams/litre of residual sugar) with gentle acidity, generous peach, spice, and slight ginger flavours, showing excellent depth and harmony, and lots of drink-young appeal.
