In 2013 Gewürztraminer wizard Gort Forshaw gave us a master class on the art of Gewürztraminer. Facing a storm right as the grapes ripened, we debated, conferred, and eventually gritted our teeth, hunkered down and let the grapes hang out on the vines to achieve the full range of flavours this variety can offer. After the weather gods had finished raining all hell down on the grapes, we stole in with an incredibly dedicated team who harvested a small yield of pure magic. Back at the winery The Wizard foot-crushed the grapes, periodically tasting the juice until it had achieved the perfect amount of skin contact. It was then pressed at midnight to the tune of the blues plucked out on the steel guitar; the rest of the process being just the usual secret alchemy of turning this gorgeous grape into an elegant, bewitching and magical masterpiece of a wine.

This Single Release wine was handcrafted by the crew at Rimu Grove Winery.  Limited to a ridiculously low number of bottles, this wine reflects the spirit of innovation, creativity and general eccentricity of the folks who make our wines.
